Why Ecologists Need Genetics: Genomics Innovations in the Study of Biodiversity and Ecology

Friday, October 4, 2013: 10:15 AM-11:45 AM
212 B (Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center)
Chairs:
Kyle Hernandez, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow, The University of Texas at Austin and Deborah Overath, PhD, Assistant Professor, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

Description: Innovations in studies of genetic diversity in natural populations include the application of genomics, bioinformatics, and novel statistical methods to non-model species to address ecological and evolutionary questions that could not be addressed previously. This session introduces examples of such applications as well as considerations for the data analysis.
