Hall 1-2 (San Jose Convention Center)
Many students at the K-12 level, learning algebra, wonder why it is important to learn algebra and where and when do we use this type of mathematics. During this program, students will learn an important application of algebra trough various activities. These activities are related to basic algebraic properties to research-level mathematics. The purpose of these activities is to apply some of the mathematics tools students have learned in class and understand the importance the application of mathematics to solve a real world problem. This was developed for the NSF GK-12 MAVS Project that focuses on bringing research mathematics into the K-12 classroom at a level appropriate for K-12 students.
