Abstract

This summer I was given a task to convert a Perl script designed by Omar Haddad (Senior Digital Electronics Engineer Dell | Services, Federal Government) to a GUI program. This Perl script required the entry of several parameters and file location making it a tedious process to do. I suggested that a GUI Controller could be made that would allow the veteran users to keep the program that they have come to know and the new users a friendly interface that could facilitate the use of the Perl script. By doing this more time could be used to create friendlier interfaces and more options could be given to the user. This option would give the user an easier and faster way to manage their test. The GUI was designed to prevent invalid user input and parameters; this will prevent test errors and the prevention of test errors lower operational cost. This GUI gives the user options that were not available to him or her before:

  1. Automated test search
  2. Save test settings for future test
  3. Interactive Help menu
  4. Parameter control
  5. Input file search
  6. Interactive test controls
  7. Automated script instructions
  8. Path assessments
  9. And more.
