Applying Universal Design: Preparing to Teach in a Diverse Classroom or Lab

Participants will leave the session with an understanding of what universal design of instruction is and how it can make college classes and labs more welcoming and accessible for students and individuals from a broad range of backgrounds. Participants will also leave with a number of suggestions for ways to apply universal design to their classroom with respect to class climate, interaction, physical environments and products, delivery methods, information resources and technology, feedback, assessment, and accommodation. In addition, participants will learn about a variety of online and print resources that they can use related to universal design.
