Fleet management plan in university campuses has been a major issue in an ever tightening budget environment like these days. Just like many transit systems, New Mexico State University (NMSU) has been experiencing issues with its own fleet management. It has been observed that the system is spending more money than it should to run the system. In this research, we present an integer programming model which minimizes the net cost of the campus transit service system without compromising service quality. We also present a simulation model that will allow us to evaluate the transit system with two different scenarios. By combining both mathematical model and computer simulation model, fleet management planners can make more flexible and effective decision.
