Flexing Our Cosmological Muscles: What Are the Bicep Results Telling Us

Thursday, October 16, 2014: 10:15 AM-11:45 AM
LACC 405 (Los Angeles Convention Center)
Chair:
Jesus Pando, PhD, Associate Professor and Chair, DePaul University

Description: New observations from the south pole experiment, BICEP, have caused a great deal of excitement in the astrophysical community. The results seem to confirm one of the theoretical pillars of modern cosmology––inflation. This session will explain what the results are and why they are important.
